Hello my name is Chris (also Bagheera), In 2019 I was asked to consider the position of
Group Scout Leader which I was very excited to take up the challenge of becoming the GSL and with the group exec helping the group to grow and giving more opportunities for young people in the local area to learn #SKILLSFORLIFE
For many more years…….
My name is Kirsty Gordon AKA Squirrel, I started with 5th Bolton Scout group as a fundraiser in 2005 which I enjoyed but felt I could offer more to the young children within the group so I became the Beaver Leader in 2006. I really enjoy starting the Beavers journey in scouting showing them new skills as well as having fun. My daughter has worked her way through the group and is now in her final year of scouts. My partner Nolan is also the scout leader at 5th so you can say it runs in the family that we all enjoy scouting.
Hi, I’m Dan ‘Badger’ smith. I started scouting at 8 years old with a Westhoughton cub group, then moved to 5th Bolton cubs shortly after. I went through the Cubs and scouts’ sections, finishing my time at 5th Bolton I joined Jaguar explorers. While in explorers I joined unit 54 and attended the World Scout Jamboree in Japan 2015. I became an assistant beaver leader at 16 with 5th Bolton and occasionally help out with the scouts. I’ve always enjoyed all scouting based activities, especially camping and outdoor crafts and hope to pass on all I’ve learned to the young people in scouting today.
My name is Lauren Williams AKA Chipmunk.
I started Scouting in 2019 as my partner was involved in Beavers at 5th Bolton as Assistant Beaver Leader so I followed in his footsteps and also became an Assistant Beaver Leader which I’m enjoying and I am look forward to continue to grow in scouting! I love to learn new things and have new experiences, something I have had a lot of during my time in Beavers.

Hi my name is Chris, I started my scouting life as a cub scout at 46th Bolton and carried on through too scouts and then
to a cub leader I was at the group for 12 years
Fast forward to 2018 my eldest daughter started cubs at 5 th Bolton from there I realised how much I missed scouting, so I joined the cub leader team and became Bagheera and I am still there,
Having fun and showing how fun scouting can be with learning at the same time.
I also helped on the fundraising committee.
Hello my name is Campbell I currently help out as a cub leader, to the cubs I’m known as Kaa and I help run and assist with various games and activities throughout the programme. I’ve been part of the 5th Bolton Scouts for over 15 years and the thing I like most is using the knowledge and experience I’ve gained throughout the years to help the young ones to become role models and get the best scouting experience.
My name is Nolan Rothwell.
I started my journey in scouting at the age of 7 as a cub in 1980 at 5th Bolton as there wasn’t beavers at the time . Both my parents eventually became leaders soon after I started Cubs with my dad becoming Akela in cubs and my mum becoming skip Sue in scouts. After finishing venture scouts I moved away from Bolton for further education and work, returning in 2000 where I came an occasional helper to the scouts with my mum still being the scout leader. In 2001 after my dad passed away my mum handed the baton down to me to take on the responsibility of Scout Leader which is where I find myself today along with my partner Kirsty who’s the Beaver Leader at 5th , we have both seen our daughter through all sections and now seeing our grandchildren starting their journey. With my family having a great love off all things outdoors.
The scout movement is just that forever moving forwards which gives us all as leaders the chance to learn and share new skills with the young people of 5th Bolton.
Hi Everyone, my name is Adam ‘Sessle’ Sayers and I have been involved with 5th Bolton Scout Group for 16 years, starting off as a Young Leader assisting with Summer Camp when I was 16 and I’m still here now as an Assistant Scout Leader.
I have a passion for the outdoors and learning new skills that I can pass on to the young people in a safe, exciting way.
